They have intel processors now, so there's not much difference other than the rediculous price difference. I'm sure there is a hack somewhere that would allow Mac OS to be installed on a PC, so why pay the extra $1000 for a Mac?

Added comment after Jake answered: I never said that I can't afford it. I just don't see any point in paying $2000 for something that runs like a PC that I could build myself. I don't agree that they run better. They're just easier to use for beginner computer users and they are stylish for the homos like Jake.

Also mamaboy, I wish you could say something like that to my face (you'd probably try to kiss me). I'm sorry that I offended you fags. I was just asking a question about your precious Macs. I wasn't bashing. You guys make me want to go gay bashing.

Neither one of these answers give specific reasons why a Mac is better. I'm an advanced computer user and could understand any technical reasons why the Mac is better, but all I ever hear is "The Mac is better." I'm sure you think it's better because you are new to computers and Macs are easy, but I've been on computers since before you were born and would need to see some hard evidence before I would spend more money on something that may or may not be better. Anyone who can show that without adding their personal oppions would be Greatly appreciated.

1 Mac is better for newer users and doesn't have as large as a virus problem because of the fewer users. Hackers aand others do not use macs so they have a safer user experience.
2. Stop saying all of that stuff. You are the one who asked why they are better, so dont be rude to others for their answers

They're not an extra $1000 for a start, it's more like an extra $300 - 500 for a PC of similar specs. At the end of the day, they're sleek and well designed, with the hardware being a perfect match of power so there are not significant bottlenecks in performance. The machines are practically silent, particularly the new iMacs that never make a fan noise even under heavy load. Every mac on the market now has dual core, and the mac pro has up to 8 cores and up to 16 gigs of RAM depending on your preference. Apple are the only manufacturer to have 30 inch screens with a resolution that means there are more than 4 million pixels on the screen. And then on top of that you can get dual screen through one graphics card that was custom designed for the mac to handle 4 DVI outputs, since each 30 inch screen has so much data flowing to it that it needed two DVI ports per screen.

At the end of the day, Apple only put cutting edge hardware into their machines and I find it difficult to believe you can build a PC with the exact same power for significantly less cash.

Have you ever owned a mac? I have been programming computers for over 2 decades and consider myself to be a technical expert at computing and yet I still choose to own a mac purely based on the fact that it brings me more power and flexibility than a PC. The Unix core behind the OS makes it ultra stable, the interface makes it ultra sleek and with the amazing support given by Apple over the warranty period, there's hardly anything to worry about.

I could go on for days, but I feel that my efforts would be wasted since your question appears to be a dig at mac users rather than an actual enquiry. I would suggest you buy a mac mini and enjoy it, then realise why mac users are so offended by your unfounded dislike for them.

and if you compare a mac to a similar pc (will still be inferior) the price is within 500

just b/c u cant afford 1 does not mean u should bash them. macs are designed to be simple , which is far more than u can say about any pc with there fugly designs. pc manufactures try to fit the newest technology into their products , but macs keep everything simple. apple support is also better than any other pc manufacturer. the quality of a mac is also vastly superior to that of a pc. macs are just overall better.
