I think our society places way to much value and importance on sports. I've always hated jocks because they act cocky and bully people and are treated like gods by everyone because they play a sport. Jocks have always been known to be extremely violent and cause physical harm to people, and have been known to rape girls as well. They have also been known to get away with this. Is it true that jocks physical hurt people and rape people and get away with it?

Dear Kidwhoiscool,
It's just a STEREOTYPE! It's not true!! I play sports myself and I am not violent or abusive in anyway nor do I know of any jocks that act like that. Do you personally know of a jock who is like that? Do you know a jock who rapes girls? Do you know a jock who physically hurt people? You shouldn't judge people based on your accusations, you should get to know them then judge them.

you will find the good the bad and the ugly no matter where you go. You will also find that generalizing behavior onto a large group of people based on your own experience/observations is fraught with error. "jock" culture is verrry competitive and it is natural for some of these traits to spill off the field and indeed in many cases this is desirable. I played 3 sports in high school and had a scholarship for soccer and still play hockey and soccer informally so I have seen some things that have given me pause and concern but for the most part research and experience have shown me that the incidence of such behavior in that group is in line with the overall incident rate in the general population..thus the answer to your question is no.

Thats a heavy over generalization. Some jocks might do this stuff but most don't. And there is a HUGE difference between being stuck on yourself and being rude to people and raping women. Anybody can be an egotistica a hole, it happens, but rape is a miserable crime, its sternly punished and it should be.

It's one of those stereo type's where they could get away with such behavior because no one would suspect them, or believe the victim...kind of like people who hide behind the church.....same concept.....they would believe the "church" person or the jock first, as opposed to the victim, because of where they stand.

I was kind of a geek in school, so I really was no fan of Jocks and Preps; however, I think it is scumbags who are beating people up and raping girls...don't get your panties in a bunch because you are a loser. Things change after high school and some people turn out to be decent human beings regardless of how they act in high school....oh yeah, high school is not real life!!!

actually i was watching this thing on 60 minutes that a group of junior high and i repeat junior high football players commited a rascist crime against a simple bookworm because he didnt want to play in their dumb joke, and they were tried and found guilty and sentenced to 90 days juvienlle hall and 600 hours of community service but thier sentence was held off until the end of football season so they would have a chance at state since they all were star players, they werent placed in alternative school or anything but the other kid was so he wouldnt have to face the other players, they interview the players parents and asked if it was fair that they can stay just so they can play football and they said it was totally fair wat wasnt fair is the charges brought against them............boy arent we smart
