so this past week i went up north and i didn't have like any service. and while i was up there my friends said they tried to call me to say happy birthday to me and stuff but i didn't answer because i couldn't have my phone on so they left me messages.

but it doesnt say i have any missed calls from them or voicemails from them

why did it do that? and is there any way to get to my messages? cause my friend said she left like a 5 minute message and i really want to hear it!

my phone has done this before too. so is it something with my phone?

im not sure if this makes any since. cause im super tired. but whatever haha

The phone doesn't show the missed calls because you did not have service when your friends called - it is the same as if you had your phone turned off when they called. You should, however, be getting a voice-mail notification when you get back to an area with service. You can always call your voice-mail (your own number) and see if there are any new messages for you.

It sounds as if you were out of your service area, which means your cell service provider could not contact your phone to relay the messages. There's probably nothing wrong with your phone, you just have a limited service range.
