It just seems like our entire governmental system is busied with obsesive laws, attempting to impose majority preferences on what others do on private property. I work on causes geered toward promoting respect for individual rights, but those who lust for power keep winning? Even Americans who complain about the Taliban, and say they love American freedom seek to be just as tyranical the first chance they get. I want to hear from the statists. I want to know what drives you. Is control it's own reward?

That is definitely one perspective. However, if you liken government to a 'household' where everyone is respected, there has to be some boundaries between the members of the home (or country) to encourage respect for other's freedoms. Interpretation of these boundaries (laws) has been subject to legal scrutiny thus amendments are made, which dutifully infringe on other's freedoms. Some boundaries are so close, that it would seem that freedoms are being infringed, but due to the legal scrutiny that experts microscope~ interpretations must eliminate harm before a freedom.

Let's say that a ones man's happiness, could mean another man's misery... which person is being infringed upon? Should a law states that the happiness of one man is less important than another's misery be amended, then the miserable man's life becomes happy, and the one happy man is now miserable. Catch 22. That is why simply majority has to rule in this case.

If you don't like the house rules, move out.

When these politicians grab any type of political power, they tend to hold on and want more. It is a very addicting thing to have power over others. It is an unfortunate side of human nature however for those in power often use their authority to enrich themselves and not use their authority for the benefit of those that they rule.

If you work on causes that promote individual rights and say you are losing, may I suggest another approach?

What drives me is not listening to people telling me what to put in my body or who to be with or anything else for that matter. You don't get it? Simple really. Control of one's self is the real reward. You should give it a try.
