Where is the harm? That someone MIGHT pray? Oh, the horrors!
With kids killing each other and gangs and drugs the ACLU surely has bigger fish to fry, or one would hope

It's funny, the people on here bashing the ACLU.
Now, I don't support all of the cases they have decided to take up, but, I do support keeping prayer out of school.
When my tax dollars no longer go to funding these institutions, they can pray to the Great JUJU of the Mountain for all I care. But as long as I am helping fund it, they should not be learning about any kind of religion what-so-ever. Unless it is related to a historical event, such as: Hitler killed 6 million Jews.

The American Civil Liberties Union, or ACLU, is a non-governmental organization devoted to defending civil rights and civil liberties in the United States. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN it means, imho, that they are suppose to be devoted TO PROTECTING the civil liberties of all the people not just a segment that can pay them off. PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO SAY THEY DON'T WANT THEIR CHILDREN TO PRAY IN SCHOOL, BUT WE HAVE A RIGHT TO SAY WE DO WANT OUR CHILDREN TO PRAY IN SCHOOL. The ACLU is a bunch of hypocrites who are bent on destroying this country. THE CONSTITUTION says separation of state and church but it is deliberately misinterpeted. THIS COUNTRY WAS BUILT ON RELIGION ... EVEN the laws in the constitution is based on the CHRISTIAN BIBLE. They forced a judge to remove THE LORDS'S PRAYER FROM A COURTHOUSE STEPS OR LOSE his job. WHAT KIND OF COCK AND BULL WAS THAT when the SUPREME COURT IS COVER WITH BIBLICAL CARVINGS as well as other GOVERNMENT BLDGS. IF the ACLU was dead set against prayer in school, WHERE IT IS NEEDED THE MOST, then they would have had MOST GOVERNMENT BLDGS TORN DOWN , in fact, they would rip up the constitution BECAUSE as I SAID IT IS BASED ON THE BIBLE! To me, the terrorist are the ACLU because EVER SINCE THEY TOOK PRAYER OUT OF SCHOOL our country have steadily been going down and the decadence is rampant and the schools are being shot up! THERE IS NO WAY TO SEPARATE CHURCH AND STATE THE WAY IT IS PRESENTLY BEING written. The writers of the constitution, I BELIEVE, only meant that the government cannot control the church but it does not mean that the people cannot be part of church and state. WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITEDS STATES .....are the government as well as ALL churches. I SEE NOTHING WRONG WITH MUSLIM WASHING THEIR FEET IN SCHOOL BEFORE THEIR PRAYERS, I SEE NOTHING WRONG WITH CHRISTIANS BEING GIVEN TIME TO SAY THE LORD'S PRAYER, If there are people in school, who practice BUDDAISM.(SP) LET THEM! JUST don't deprive us or ANYONE THE RIGHT TO PRAY wherever we feel like praying. GOD KNOWS WE NEED ALL THE PRAYERS WE CAN GET FROM WHATEVER RELIGION! The preamble says we are the people make this constitution for domestic Tranquility.
WELL ACLU IS NOT ABIDING BY the PREAMBLE which is an explaination of what AMERICANS SHOULD EXPECT!
IMHO..inmyhumbleopinion!
What about THANKSGIVING....isn't that based on religion and don't CONGRESS and the PRESIDENTIAL CABINET ALL GO HOME FOR THANKSGIVING........what is ACLU doing about that?

Maybe the ACLU thinks that someone else's religion might not believe in silence, and that would offend them. Tragic!
Come on people. "Wasting tax dollars"? Yeah, I'm sure trillions per year are being spent on students being silent for five seconds.

There is no NEED for a moment of silence in school. School is for education and learning. If you want a quite moment, go to the bathroom.

Schools should teach spirituality? No. Schools need to teach chemistry and physical education and all stops in between. You cannot trust a teacher whose only education is in physics to have a handle on something as personal as spirituality--leave that to the experts, the pastors, for God's sake.
