I have a 10 gallon aquarium with 2 dwarf cichlids in it and no live plants. I want to know what is the optimum gallons per hour amount. I am leaning towards a filter that will filter up to 150 gallons per hour. Filter has adjustable flow if this is too much. Thanks for answers!

Go with the bigger filter if you can turn it down. Most filters are overrated as far as GPH and tank size go anyway. As the filter gets dirtier it will slow down some too. I have two ten gallon tanks that have marineland filters rated for 20 gallons and 125 GPH, it is not too much flow for either tank. One contains endler's livebearers, the other is a cherry shrimp breeding colony.

Aquaclear 30's will filter 150 GPH, but it might be too gib for 2 dwarf cichlids. Anything under 75 GPH would be enough for 2 dwarf cichlids. A small power filter or maybe 2 sponge filters should do fine.

I would say that's too much personally since dwarf cichlids like fairly calm water. Look for something more along the lines of 40-50 gph

150 GPH is going to create too much of a current for that small of an aquarium. Something that does 40 GPH would be plenty.
