because when i was 17 i tried to take my license test but i failed after not yeilding a left turn. So now i know more but i never actually got to the part where you park. So do they really test you on parallel parking and 3 point turn? Can someone tell me in detail if possible on what i should study for??

Well...I don't know for sure if they do now? But they still did when I was first licensed. I live in Ontario,Canada. But the basic drivers test is still about the same in every North American jurisdiction! I would count on that has being a yes,and you'll probably be expected to do it! Make sure you are always looking around, use your Sideview Mirrors-only for a general view. Look over both shoulders before changing lanes. Leave yourself at least a 2 or 3 car spacing in front of your vehicle. Look into your Rear View Mirror every 5 to 8 seconds, and anytime you are about to come to a complete stop! If you approach a Stop Sign with a line painted on the road along side of the sign, stop your front tires on the line...and then proceed ahead slowly to determine the way is clear before you proceed to go through! Always signal your intentions to turn or lane change-well in advance! If you are making a Left Turn...you must yield to oncoming traffic, you are totally responsible when determining if it is safe to make a left turn...and of course if it is allowed!

It depends on where you live, your local DMV should be able to give you that information. Try asking someone who passed recently. For my UK test I had to do 2 of 3, a 3 point turn (actually multipoint turn), parrallel park or reverse around a corner. I did the 3 point turn and the reverse around a corner (downhill) in a stick as well (only way to get a full license), for my California test all I had to do was reverse in a straight line.

It depends on the State. In NYS (NYC) they always do. Or they are always suppose to. It has been long while since I took the test, but parking in a place like NYC always means parallel parking so you can guarantee you will be tested.

Good Luck

Good news. They no longer test you on parallel parking or three-point turns.

The Supreme Court ruled that it's unconstitutional for a driver examiner to make someone park on command.

All they can do now is ask you if you know how to park and perform a three-point turn. You must obviously answer yes and he/she will mark the appropriate box and pass you on your license.

If they don't, you have the right to protest. Tell the examiner about the Supreme Court ruling. They will back down immediately!

I also had to do both when I took the test. I'll admit it has been some years ago.
