Give me some options here, im thinking namebrand like HP or Acer, Compaq, Sony, Dell, something in the 4-500 range, Definately needs DVD RW, and good amount of GB memory. Any Ideas ? give me the link to the page when you find it please.

Visit many retail stores and hunt for closeout bargains. A friend of mine recently bought a Compaq for under $500 from Staples. it has 1GB of RAM, DVD burner, decent hard drive and.... wait for it... Windows Vista Home Premium.
Check Wal-mart for a special deal.

I have had several Toshiba's in a row because they tend to have the best price for a capability that matches all of the other brands at less money.

Go to a local computer shop in your area. They should have a referbished models a couple of years old for that amount and cheaper.
