So my wedding is in 3 months and right now it looks as though I will get my period on my wedding day...Ahh! I can't take birth control because it messes with my thyroid issues and makes me very sick. Are there any *home remedy* or such ways to push back or skip a period? I know this is a long shot but I am desperate....Thanks :)

The worst part is I can't figure out how I am even going to go to the bathroom in that dress, better yet change a tampon...Ugh!

Just a suggestion.
every summer I start exercising. I start roller blading or biking 5 miles a day. Each time I do that my periods start becoming 6 weeks apart. But it takes about a months to take affect. One summer when I didn't exercise that didn't happen. You might want to start and exercise program to lengthen the time between. Also stress tends to also extend the time. maybe the stress of planning your wedding might throw it off a bit.
BTW Congrats!!!

hey julie,
the best thing that you can do is hope that your period will be a little late or a little early. but if that does not happen, stress makes your period be delayed a few days. again if that does not happen, what i would do is before you put on the dress, put in a fresh tampon that is strong enough for your flow. along with the tampon put on a maxi pad. that way, you can just go the bathroom, pull up your dress, pull out the tampon, keep the pad in, continue on with the celebrations. congradulations (spelled wrong, sorry) on the wedding and i hope it goes well! i hope i helped.

Jule please don't be taking any strange things especially on your wedding day. There isn't any thing i've ever heard of to delay a menstrual cycle besides the pill. It would be even worse to become ill from trying some remedy you aren't familiar with and how your body may react to it. I suggest you have a very intimate talk with the one you love enough to marry. Hopefully you will be delighted with the fun and ideas the two of you can come up with in this very personal situation. Have fun Jule !!!!Live,Laugh, and LOVE !!!!

Taking large doses of vitamin C (it is water soluable, what your body doesn't need is excreted in the urine) a couple of days prior to the onset of menses usually works.

I know this may not be a good answer but drinking alcoholic beverages actually cuts it

You're going to be so exhausted after your big day, you might welcome being able to use it as an excuse to just go to sleep instead! Congratulations on your impeding wedding, btw.

i truly think that we can use mind over matter. meditate and concentrate on the idea that you want your period after your wedding. i know it sounds bizarre but it can't hurt.

um there isn't any 'home remedy' that can alter your body's chemistry.
but judging by how stressed you are, you might postpone it with your stress level.

Gee, I don't know. Why don't you call your doctor and ask if he/she can help?
