Probably because you are trying to plant them in a garden with other plants. you have to plant jellybeans in a plastic bag. Chew on some jellybeans spit them into a ziplock and store is a moist warm place, put some bread crumbs in there.. and you will grow all kinds of yummy stuff...

Actually you have to match the color of the soil to the jelly bean...So unless you dye each parcel of soil the compatable color..only the licorice(black) ones will grow.

They should definitely be planted about 2 feet under and on a hot day so they get plenty of sunshine before going into the hole.

Maybe they need to be started inside in a terrarium. Put a Gummy Bear or two on duty to make sure they get watered when they need it. It may just be too hot outside :0) Cute,,,

did you plant them right side up?
I bet you put them in upside down and they are growing downward now.
