Most cars have a way to turn off these lights, it should be in your owner's manual. On my car there is a little screw slot near the light switch.

Engaging park or pulling up on the e-brake usually cancels the DRLs. If you want them permently disabled, you'll have to do some minor rewiring to your car. DRLs have dozens of different implemtations, so there's a different method to just about every car. You'll need to specify your make model and year for this info.

I dont know about the cars, but on the trucks you can. there is a cirlce button next to the headlight switch. all you need to do is push the button in four times and it will disable the DRL,s for that time until you stop and restart the truck

On some vehicles you apply the parking brake. The easiest way is to unplug it. There is a moduel under the hood usually on the firewall or driver's inner fender.

You might check if putting parking lights on shuts the main beam.
BTW, where are there any drive-ins left?

Check your manual. Of course, you could always pull the fuse out.
