Republicans of the 1950s bear no resemblance to the W Administration. Fiscally prudent, Eisenhower ended one war, started no new ones, kept taxes high, balanced the budget, and respected the Supreme Court.
In fact, his son, General John S. D. Eisenhower disavowed W in the last election and endorse Kerry, saying:
"The fact is that today’s "Republican" Party is one with which I am totally unfamiliar. To me, the word "Republican" has always been synonymous with the word "responsibility," which has meant limiting our governmental obligations to those we can afford in human and financial terms. Today’s whopping budget deficit of some $440 billion does not meet that criterion."
The Bush 43 Administration and its partisans are radicals-- not only don't they resemble the 1950s Republican Party, they don't even resemble the Bush 41 Administration

Before you die you will see many idiots in charge! I'm 49 and every President has been an idiot! I'll just wait for the next one. So let's see, do you want to be President next? You know screw the poor and favor the rich? How about leading the country down the everything goes road? You know, like you screw everything or vise versa? How about pretending your doing so much good for the country and blowing so much sunshine up everyone's a*s that they look like a star? Did you know that Kennedy was told there might be an attempt on his life and he had better use the bullet proof top on his car and he refused? How about asking your daughter Amy Carter about national defense? How about Star Wars for a national defense? I did not make love to that women! So you see I'm just waiting for the next idiot!
