It really makes no difference what any of us think, he is going to be the record holder. He has had a great career and should be given credit for his accomplishments.

A record is a record. Did he earn it honestly? No. Do I like the fact that he will hold this record? Definitely not. But the record book is nothing more then a statistical record of the game. It is black and white, there are no gray areas. 756 home runs is more then 755, so Bonds will be the record holder. Am I glad about it? No. Does he deserve it? Unfortunately, regardless of whether or not he used "chemical enhancement' to attain the record, he does. But there will always be a cloud over that record, and most intelligent baseball fans will know that.

He "deserves" to have about 550-600 home runs. That's my rough estimate based on looking at his career numbers.

That HR total, if it was not tarnished by steroid abuse, plus all his other stats, would have been good enough to get him into the Hall of Fame. As it is, his 756 PLUS steroid use may exclude him from the Hall.

It looks like BB made the wrong choice, doesn't it?

Yes, Barry Bonds deserves the record. He hit each & every home run himself. Even at 43 yrs old, he is still performing at a high level & has not EVER tested positive for performance enhancing drugs that are illegal.

Enough is enough. Lets give our kids honest heroes to look up to. Starting with Pete Rose and anyone else. If you cheat you pay. At least lets tell the kids honesty is the best way to go. There shouldn't be "its ok he didn't mean to ". I love The Reds but Pete cheated. Bottom line and so has Barry Bonds.

Obviously, even with steroids it takes a great amount of talent to hit that many home runs. Taking all those walks also greatly reduces his chances at a homer. There's also the thing of "innocent to proven guilty" and Bonds has never failed a drug test.

I belive that until it is proven that he took steroids he deserves to be treated like a great athlete. If it is proven that he took steroids that he should be removed from the record books when he breaks the home run record. It is still amazing what he is doing though. It is not all strenght so it is still amazing.

It sucks to Hank Aaron that he had to use drugs to break the record, but it is all to late now so you might as well celebrate his achievement especially if you are a Giants fan. I do not care, he is a great player, it is a sad world we live in when we got to take drugs just to hit a baseball, but then again I would do the same if they were going to pay me all the money.

Until he is proven a steroid user...I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
He is one of the best in my time. I enjoy him as a ball player, yet not a Giants fan.

sure he does i mean how many homers did he hit off of pitchers who were tsking steroids?

maybe im the wrong person to ask because i really dont see whats so bad about steroids. If your willing to take a risk against your body in order for your team to win i think thats pretty admirable. I believe bonds took steroids (if he did) to win a world series and unfortunately it didnt work.
