my brother had the same situation he was paying 1183.00 a month. Now my nephew is in college wondering were all the money went to. It's messed up. Take her back to court and let the judge know that right now you can't pay that much in Child support. As a mother i applaud you for doing your part...but it's mother's like your ex-wife that make us re-married baby mothers look like s***. I never give my son' father any grief about paying child support. We don't have a court order we just have a written out agreement on a set amount the we both agreed upon. Good Luck with your situation and try being the one taking her to court to get it reduced. If she is working and married there is no reason that your child support should be that much if your working off of commission alone.

Your ex-wife sounds extremely greedy and i'm really sorry to hear about your situation. I'm newly divorced with a child and my ex-husband was reluctant for a long time to fulfill his duties as a father until the courts took action. He complains about having to pay $300 a month! I know the courts base it on a certain amount of what you make for a 40 hour a week check regardless of how many hours you actually work or how much you make. I'm not sure what you can do unless you contact friend of the court and tell them your situation...never hurts to see what they have to say about it. You never know, maybe they know some way to help your situation. Good luck and I hope my advice helped a little!

Hopefully, you can take all your income information in with you and the Judge will make a decision that is within reason based on your income.. it's usually a percentage ... perhaps it could be lowered if your income is less than it was in the previous order, but to do that you would need to file a petition for modification of child support on your own.. the judge can grant what you ask for...

Yes your right . she's a greedy.....person. She's not the only one that can file or petition the court for relief, or an amendment. You also can do that. Don't worry about the child. If what you say about her, the ex's status, even if you gave her 2 g a month the child would not get more. Get that order on the burner now.

$1,000 a month is a lot of money for one child. With your situation, you might be able to petition to have the child support lowered. My father did this when we were growing up, he was actually able to have the support lowered from a whole $50 a month per child to a lousy $25 a month per child. Obviously, this was quite a few years ago.
Child support is suppose to help feed, cloth, and house the child.
It actually makes me sick when I hear or learn of women that take advantage of the child support situations and not everyone realizes that not every dad is a dead beat father, but the father does need to be able to support himself as well.

i can't imagine the state would allow a person to constantly go into court for an increase in child support -- most states limit "reviews" to once a year.
i think $1000 a month is a little excessive, anyway.
sorry about the bankruptcy and your problems...
yes you should be able to live.. maybe you could consult a family law attorney? sometimes they give free advice -- shop around.
take care ok?

Man, it sucks, i know a lot of men in this situation, ex wives can get greedy, if she wants to take you to court let her, she'll get less money, cause you are paying her way to much as it is, you gotta be able to live and pay your bills as well, and seems like she is not thinking of that, so if i were you i'd take her up on the court thing, because they will not make you pay $1,000 a month.

Take her back to court with all your recent obligations and if I'm not mistaken........or at least in the state of tennnessee they take the mother's income into account as well. If it's impossible for you to live they should and probably will give you a reduction in your child support payments.

I also agree that $1000 a month is a lot of money!! I believe you can appeal to the court to have it lowered. In most states the courts will take her income into consideration but NOT her husbands. You may have to get a lawyer and have them appeal the order and get it lowered.

I would be happy for a $1,000 for 3 kids. Okay ask why she needed so much. Child support is for helping with the needs of the child Like : food, clothes and shelter. If you feel that your ex is using the money for herself ask her for sell receipts from the clothes stores and grocery store hopefully she will stop being so greed.Best of luck.
