Same here. I'd like to get into politics too.
First, it would be easier if you are a lawyer, after all, many prsidents were lawyers, such as abraham lincoln. You do not have to do this, but it would help. I actually have an interest in becoming a lawyer!!
Well, from what everyone has told me, it would be a hell of a lot easier if you had some experience with politics before you even run for anything. So, try to help out people by attending local campaign events, like as I am currently doing with Obama on the eastern shore.
And, for elections, start small, and work you way up. You should try local first, like a county commissioner. Then work your way up, state senator, governor, representative, and then, if you want to, preseident. Make sure you have a good rep before you run for state or federal offices though!!
Good Luck!!

start by working on a campaign. Then run for a local office. You have to learn "how the game is played" before you can expect to be taken seriously as a candidate.

It depends on what your aspirations are. Do you want to be a politician on a local level, or higher? Maybe I'm just cynical, but I really don't you have much hope of being a politician on the federal level unless you come from a rich, influential family. But you could be a state legislator or a local city council member. I'd start small with city council or something.

It depends on what party you are in, who you know, and how much money you have. The ideal would be to start small- be a commisioner. If you are already in the public eye like a mayor, judge, etc. then you can skip that. Then you should become a state representative or senator. Then from there, the world is your oyster as they say-- but you can't have any skeletons, and you need money and friends with money too

Go to law school and become a lawyer. In law school you will learn how to lie, cheat, and steal and become just an all round scumbag. You will get elected your first time out.
