I know someone who has 2 family doctors within commuting distance of his home. I just wondered if their is any provincial regulation restricting each resident to one family doctor. Many people cannot find one doctor .I feel he is denying someone else a doctor.I'd like specific site information if you know it or just your opinions Thanks

dont know the rules in canada. but common sense says unless they are in the same practice together but maybe switch/split or are in different locations that its not good for the patient themselves. i dont know that he is denying someone a dr. but he is certainly jeopordizing their time if they are not connected or if one doesnt have a sub specialty that maybe the other sends him there for. he may forget to tell one some important info that happened during a visit to the other or the drs may not communicate properly. on very important findings. also i would take this as a red flag! that they may be getting meds from one that the other wont give or getting meds from one using one id and meds from another with a separate id. not only is this id fraud it is illegally obtaining prescriptions and has serious legal consequences and may unintentionally to him set the dr up to take the fall if something happens to him. also the dr can legally go after him if he finds out that he saw another dr of the same type at the same time and its found that he took meds that dr was unaware of. basically its a big legal and health risk to the person if both doctors are unaware.
