LOL I mean really isn't it ridiculous. I see couples flying down the road, running you over practically with a SUV the size of a tank, with one kid in the back thats not even old enough to read with their personal TV in the back, screaming I want SpongeBob, as they scramble to be ahead of you by 5 seconds to unload all the new goodies they bought, only to be unloaded at the local landfill in a couple of years.

So correct... You can't take it with you in the end. It's all a waste of resources and a waste to the environment. I'm sure you have heard the old saying; Eat to live, don't live to eat. Most of America lives to eat, and it's getting fat from gluttony.

Yes, it is all incredibly silly.

Do what I do - refuse to participate.

I drive a small car that gets 40 MPG and my t.v? You'd actually have to look for it to find it.

My cellphone doesn't take pictures, though I do have a GPS by necessity.

I love the new style music, but I won't listen or, purchase CDs made by artists who I disagree with and I haven't seen a movie in a theater in many years.

I dress well because of my profession but otherwise, wear no expensive jewelry, as I see it as being garish at best.

I actually keep my appliances until they stop working or, start running my electric bill up and while my decor is fun and colorful, with the exception of furniture, nothing I have cost very much alone. Why would it?

Of course no one needs it. If they have the money to buy it though I don't really care. My concern I guess I would say is for the people who can't afford it. Those who overextend themselves via our readily available credit system in an attempt to keep up with those who can genuinely afford it. Again personal responsibility comes into play but we have become a culture where bigger is better and everyone is trying to impress everyone else.

We will all stop buying SUV's, when Al gore and Robert Kennedy get rid of there SUV's and stop FLYING AROUND IN PRIVATE JETS!!!! Which is more harmful to the enviorment. Also you gottA love Robert Kennedy he wants you to use alternative energy BUT Slapped an Injunction on the state of Mass, when they tried to build a wind Farm off the coast, which would have supplied the islands with wind clean natural power, But since he's a HYPOCRITE, HE DIDN'T WANT THE WIND FARMS IN HIS OWN BACKYARD, WHAT A HYPOCRITE!!!!!!!! So untill they practice what they preach go test drive a Hummer

No, that's the reason they start at 8" and work up to the 150" model. Buy what you can afford. I guess we should all be thankful, nobody has forced any of us to buy one of those big SUV's yet. I just got a Honda Fit to drive to work.

Freedom, isn't it great?

This goes out to all the people who say I have the money why not.Well, you might want to invest some of that money for your childrens and your own future. That new suv and all the stuff you have the money for may not help you when your old. Would be wise to be ready for the future and not be so narrow mined about today.

No. neither is a true need. It happens to be a "Want"
for those people. As for myself, I'm perfectly happy
with my 15 year old tv set and my 14 year old car.

this is a subject that pisses me off...I should be able to spend the money that I myself, not you, earned and spend it the way I want to spend it....if I want to buy a $150,000 Mercedes, I will. Why? Because I want to...I dont think its anyone else's business how I spend my money if I was taxed, didnt steal it or laundered it via churches.

Have a little integrity...if you believe in a womans right to choose an abortion why dont you also believe that anyone could choose to spend their money the way they want...

This isnt communism, I can worry about myself and my finances without anyone else stepping into my business.

This exemplified our consumerism society! Some will think that they don`t care, while others will plunge in it driven by marketing and TV`s... In this society, peoples think that they are really free, so they buy anything to make them feel free, but in fact you are really freed, only when you understand how you are manipulated to behaved like this!! So, I don`t buy into this, as I really, really hate to be controlled!!
