Ferrets require at least 4 hours a day outside the cage. the cage should be as big as you can possibly handle to allow lots of room for playing.

Feed them a high protien ferret food or kitten food. Totally Ferret, 8 in 1 ultimate, Royal Canin Baby Cat. Ferrets imprint on food, I would suggest getting them used to eatting 3 or 4 different kinds. that way if one changes or is no longer made you have others to fall back on

You will need to get distemper and rabies vacinations for your ferrets. Be sure to follow up on that. they would have gotten teh first set from the breeder, you will need 2 more sets before they are properly vacinated (much like a puppy)

Ferrets can be taught tricks (my do roll over and come when called) they also enjoy going for walks on the leash with a nice ferret harness. They should always have fresh clean water and fresh food.

Do not use clumping litter for them, it can get caught to the bum and cause problems. Use something like yesterdays news or horse stall pellets.. The pellets I get a 40 pound back for like $7. Change the litter daily.

Do not bath your ferret often. The more you bath your ferret the worse it will smell. If you bath them, they lose the natural oils in thier fur, this causes the skin to produce these oils which will cause the feret smell you often hear about. if you must, use a moist toilette for puppies and whipe them down now and again.

Feed only a high quality ferret food--Totally Ferret is one of the best. Ferret proof the house or room they will exercise in--they are escape artists and thieves! Also, make sure they have no access to anything chewable, such as plastic or rubber. They love to eat these things and they cause intestinal blockages. Bath no more often than once a month. Do not use scoopable kitty litter--it will turn into cement on their paws and they will also ingest it. See this for more info:

spend a lot of time with them to get them used to people. Let your friends play with them too. You should spend at least 2 hours with your new ferrets

They are good animals. yes they do tend to smell, but bathing them frequently will help cut down on the smell. Also they do tend to be nocturnal. I have 2 and they do play a bit during the day, but at night they go wild playing while we try to sleep. Make sure to handle them alot so that they learn who you are and they won't be so apt to bite. Hope this helps.

they are going to smell. its not your fault. also, give them lots of attention, or they get mean, make them get use to being man handled. and let them go out side!
