As good as any. The ads and the sales people will argue how great their machine is. You mow the lawn once a week. It's not a lifetime commitment. The machine that makes your grass shorter is a matter of taste. Some guys want a Ferrari and others are happy with a Hyundai. The fact is, you're cutting grass to make your yard look nice. The Ferrari might impress your neighbors, but they probably don't care. The Yard Man will do the same job for way less money. Yard Man has become a respected name in suburban do-it-yourself landscaping by being a reasonably priced machine that will give you reasonable results for a good reasonable number of years. More if you are mechanically inclined.

They did not get very good marks in Consumer Reports. I would recommend spending a bit more and getting a really good mower, like a Toro. I just bought one (my 2nd-my first one was a used mower; used it till the wheels fell off after I had it 15 years or so) of the self propelled. Starts real easy and does a great job.

Yard Machines, Troy Bilt, Murray, and many others are made by the same company, MTD. They are an adequate machine, but far from the best. I own a Troy Bilt and a Yard Machine. Both do the job but I wish I could afford a John Deere of something better.

If you are using it for 15 to 20 minutes a week it will get you by but anything more than that I wouldn't recommend it. You don't see commercial outfits using a homeowner mower for good reason it wouldn't last a week Most use John Deere,Toro,Honda.Walker.Grass Hopper.Lesco to name a few but yes it will work for you

Sure they are good. They use BS engines and the same transaxle as everyone else. The body is a bit cheap but that ain't the part that cuts the grass. For the money you can't beat craftsman. They are made by AYP and are better quality. John Deer used to be good but has gone the way of troybilt. Bright green junk.
