Let us say Bush dies.

On the one hand, you are sad that he has died so soon; on the other hand, you are relived that he is no longer president.

Mixed feelings

It's 'mixed feelings' and it means when you are happy and sad at the same time. For example, if your dog was very, very old, suffering from a lot of health problems and obviously didn't have long to live, if he just died in his sleep you would have mixed feelings about it -- sorry that he died, because he had been in the family ever since you could remember, but happy that he was no longer in pain and that you didn't have to take him to the vet to have him put down.
A more common example might be if a young boy asked his dad for $100 loan so he could set himself up in business selling lemonade from a pushcart, the father might say he had mixed feelings about giving it to him, not sure that it's a good idea because the boy is very young, but proud of the kid for showing that much initiative. That's mixed feelings.

Here's an example. My little dog died two weeks ago. I am devastated and sorry. On the other hand, she was at the vet's office every week, she was uncomfortable and she was incontinent all over the house. So, I'm also relieved.
That's a mixed feeling or mixed emotion.

Mixed feelings...it would happen if your best friend in the world who you loved got a job 3,000 miles away. For much more money. And it's their dream job. You're happy because you love them and they're going to do well. At the same time, you are sad because they are moving and you will miss them. Mixed feelings...get it?

it means that you dont feel strongly about any of the options.

ie I have mixed emotions or feelings about a person - usually means they seem nice on the surface but there is something about them that you dont like.
i usually follow my instincts and error on the side of caution if i have mixed feelings :)
