Look at it this way. Allowing people to pursue careers as boxers so they can step into a ring and bash each other's brains in is a moral issue. But it's perfectly legal because the 2 participants are engaged in it voluntarily and have a choice. The dogs trained and forced to fight each other have no such choice. Some moral issues are not considered to be public legal issues because they are really just a matter of personal choice. Some people might claim that making dogs fight is a personal matter because the dogs are nothing more than their own property, but I say it should be a matter of public legislation because animals have feelings of their own and are entitled to not be treated in such a cruel manner.

It is a legal issue.
It is against the law to force an animal to do something it can't make a choice to do in the first place.
Basically, dog fighting would be fine in my book if the dogs could say to their owners, "Yeah. I think I would like to do that." Instead, the owners choose to be cruel idiots and force these animals to do something that is heinous and brutal. And if they don't, their option? DEATH.
If someone is itching to see a fight where there is blood and cruelty, I am all for sticking dog fighters into rings with the dogs they've trained. Of course, I would dip them into a vat of beef first. . . Cruel? That is the equivalent to what they have done to these dogs. It can only be a moral issue if the participants - ALL the participants - have choices. The dogs don't have choices. At that point, it is a legal issue.

Because it is cruel and inhumane and violate the laws that are out there to protect people from committing cruelty against animals.
Morally it is just plane wrong, but it is first and foremost illegal as it should be.

There are two major reasons.
1. The gambling that goes along with it.
2. The creulty to animals. The training itself and then what happens to the dogs who were not the winners.
Imagine this: Sorry, Mike, you didn't win the Super Bowl... BANG
Kind of the same situation.

yeah it is really a morale issue and has to do with that fact that many people see dogs as part of their family. and the harsh conditions that the fighting dogs are put through can be seen as despicable by most people.

Because its cruel to dogs.
If Michael Vick thinks hes so tough let him step in the Ultimate Fighting ring and entertain us there. Let him do the fighting.
He wont because hes not tough. Hes a coward.

They are domesticated animals that are treated badly and abused to make them fight. It is
a moral question. It is just wrong.

Dog fighting is not supposed to be. It is inhumane. It's like forcing domesticated animals to tear each other apart. And for people to get their entertainment from it is disgusting and low.
