I found a trick of the trade, a shop vac. It has to be the 6.5 hp. with the 16 gallon tank. Mine is the rigid brand. They are relatively inexpensive and really clean the carpets way better than your conventional vacuum. I mean they really clean the carpet. And the attachment gets under the beds and furniture way easier. And it gets in the corners well too. And I guess if you wanted to you could even put water on the carpet. Because its a wet/dry vacuum

Yes, when my regular vac. was in repair I used the shop vac. It was really awesome.. I even vacuumed my furnature with it.. ! I used to use a little shark vac which took about 1/2 hr.. My shop vac. it was done 1,2,3 !!!! I also just used it to clean up excess water out of a carpet I was cleaning... So, good luck..

Having 3 dogs, one a husky who sheds like crazy, I have also been amazed at how well the shop vac cleans. Now only if they put that kind of horse power in a regular vacuum cleaner, wouldn't that be nice!!
