You may be located too far from the telco's central office (CO) or they simply don't yet offer that service in your immediate area.

Many times the availability of DSL is dependent on the distance you are from a phone company central office or remote switch. The phone lines that DSL depends on get very noisy over long distances which is why the phone company doesn't offer it if you're far away from the switch.

DSL requires you to be a certain distance away from a switching station. Unfortunately, it doesn't reach out to rural areas and even some smaller towns. Some areas have wireless access available. The next bet would be satellite, which is overpriced and not that reliable. =/

Sometimes, it's just not profitable for companies to place DSL in certain areas. If you can't get DSL, you should look into getting either Cable or ISDN.

You either live too far from the phone center where the DSL comes from, or the line between you and the center has old equipment on it.
