Yes... iTunes is the software interface for all iPods and iPhones. It is a FREE download: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Songs you put on your iPod do NOT have to be purchased through the iTunes STORE, they just have to be put in your iTunes Library in order to be downloaded into the iPod.

iTunes should allow you to "Import" your music files from elsewhere on your computer when you first run it.

Enjoy!

I think you can use Windows Media player but if you do get an iPod I would highly suggest using their software. I think iTunes is the greatest thing ever and it works so well with the iPod but their music protection is the stupidest thing ever. And I am no fan of iPods at all.

I think you should shop around some more. Go look online or something. There are alot of other mp3 players out there that will work great with Windows Media player. I have a iriver clix and I love it, it works great with Windows Media player.

Apple made it that you can only use iTunes to sync the ipods to, to download and etc. Go to iTunes.com and download bc its free. AND if you already have all your songs saved to windows media player no worries sometimes itunes copies all the files you have on your computer already to the itunes software. I think it actually asks that while you are installing it to your computer if I am not mistaken.

You need to use iTunes!! Don't worry because iTunes is so easy. An iPod is not quite like most mp3 players with which you can use other programs like windows media player, rhapsody, and napster. Mp3's can use that software because they use the mp3 format for their songs, iPods are different though. iPods use m4p format for their songs, which keeps you loyal to Apple and virtually prevents you from illegally downloading and sharing songs with just anyone. You can use Limewire for your iPod also, but you might as well get iTunes because it is safe, always free to download, only charges you for each song purchase, and will provide you with the essential updates for your software and iPod.
Hope this helped!!!
