Is it still the little white house with the picket fence, with two kids a dog and the hope of sending our kids off to college or something else?

Isn't it being fabulously wealthy, flying all over the world and having really awesome cars and homes to impress all your friends with?
This country is too consumed with material possessions and seeking approval and inciting envy in their neighbors.

What does the American Dream look like now? Try Poor. Foreclosures are at an all time high, but according to what the feds say, the economy is doing great. If that was the case then why so many foreclosures? Why are gas prices still going up? Why is the price of food climbing? And why are wages NOT keeping up with inflation? Just a few simple questions that Bush and company refuse to answer truthfully.

Right now, just scraping by will do; having a decent job, food, shelter and paid bills.

I still have that dream of the little house with a white picket fence, but it's getting more and more distant.

That sounds like my parents life except they do not have a white picket fence or any dogs.

For me, the American Dream is having a large house in the suburbs, a nice car, two spoiled children, and a pampered wife.

I thought it morphed into something else long ago. The American dream at the moment is hoping Mr Bush doesn't do something really stupid. I would like to hold onto my chunk of the dream. Not have it blown to bits.

the American dream has been distorted. people who envisioned the original American dream had nothing or very little. Most American families have more than the original dreamers could even imagine could ever be possible. we have more now than ever in history, PCs, lap tops, LCD TVs, cable, satellite, microwaves, cell phones, mp3 players/iPods, clean efficient cars, and on and on. we are spoiled compared to those who originally spoke of the American dream.

I'm pretty content with my existence. I have the little house with the picket fence, one child, two dogs and that's plenty for me.

Life is what you make it, just remember, you get to live with your choices. So make good ones.

the american dream is like the american dream along time ago. living a healthy life being filthy wealthy. of course since this is the american dream, i am assuming everybody living in the united states have the american dream. we are wealthier and healthier than anybody else in the world, including the ones who have cancer, including the ones who are blind. in africa people search for food to eat and still starve, they search for a place to sleep everyday fearing for their life.

For me it would be freedom , never see my government except if I needed them not them always needing me but treating me with disdain unless they want something. or treating me as though I am too stupid to understand how they govern. So for me in a few more years I'm outta here, off to a country with less people open spaces, blue skies.
