Many so called terrorists in Guantanamo currently was the result of our government passing out cash in Afghanistan. People were told they be given a cash reward for turning in "terrorists". Many Afghani's used this as a means of making money and revenge on enemies.
Also if they are indeed terrorists, why are they not put on trial? Why are they held indefinately? What is the Bush Adminstration afraid of? If they are terrorists they should prove it.

Hmmm... so you know for a fact that ALL the 'detainees' in gitmo are terrorists and were not just sold out for a quick buck? Now what if some of those detainees were sold out by the terrorists themselves, just as a diversion and to deflect attention from themselves? What's to say that a terrorist couldn't round up people opposed to them, sell them to the US and use the money to promote more terrorism.
How's that for a (lib) reality check?

As a more or less Liberal, I think we should be trying to find more allies. Where did you get the idea that Liberals are against using diplomacy and common sense....the whole point i believe is that Bush and crew do not have a good record for getting ANY allies. I would like to just see a government I could trust...I would have to believe any Ally in the Middle East is more of a fair weather friend and likely to be temporary at best

You also forgot that they fail to separate the actions of citizens and the actions of a government.
Governments across the Middle East have helped capture thousands of terrorists and have helped by providing bases to other nations fighting terrorism.

well..... many of those so called "terrorists" have not been convicted with one crime.
i also remember when Egypt was begging our Government to turn in a wanted terrorist (Omar Abdul raman) and we refused to instead we granted the guy political asylum, a couple of years later he bombed us.
