in the "black community" the reason why schools shootings in the Midwest(and other areas), happen so effortlessly? I mean, if the worry about crime was evenly distributed, would we as American's be better prepared for and notice the warning signs of school shooters?

Layman's for "J.G."- People sit and ask question after question about crime and the black community, which is undeniable, but so is crime in other areas and amongst other groups and if the worry was evenly distributed, would people be better prepared for crime in those areas that are, supposedly, "crime-less"?

And what made the Columbine massacre such a rallying cry for additional safety measures in schools? In my opinion, it was cold-blooded murder on an upper-middle-class to upper-class, suburban campus.

If this happened in an urban setting....it would have played - maybe - 48-72 hours in the media and then had drifted away....because "those kids" only know "street violence," and what can you expect from "those areas and those schools."

Also, in a recent article in the (Cleveland) Plain Dealer, it chronicled the "growing" - no pun intended - situation of indoor pot "farms" in suburban homes. Again, this is breaking news because - oh, my goodness - it isn't in "those areas" where it "should" happen.

And it is myth that certain crimes and criminals essentially come from "over there." They are everywhere.

The greatest divide in this nation is how such issues are played out - not just in the media - but in the minds and will of politicians, civic leaders and residents. It is out of sight, out of mind until those chickens - that Malcolm X talked about - come home to roost.

There is enough crime happening in our country to wonder and inquire about people as a whole, let alone particular racial groups. If we were to look at school shootings we would see that most of them have been by white individuals yet a number of people aren't analyzing that. First we need an unbiased view to address a serious problem, then it can be handled and dealt with properly.

No, because for every "warning sign" that seems to clear in hindsight, there'll be a hundred "weird" kids singled out and harassed by school administration.

When lots of white kids die, it's news. When another black kid dies, it's just another day.
