My 3 week old son has started to want to be awake more now and look arround and is being fussy I guess you would call it.Change diaper, check, feed, check, get the air bubles out of his belly, check. But then he crys.Seems like he wants to be in his swing to look arround. He's holding his head up a little so he doesn't want held on my shoulder or layed down.So I put him in the swing til he falls asleep. When I take him out to put him in his crib he wakes up again and we have to start all over.Help.I'm tired.Any ideas or suggestions???

Two shots of whiskey. One for the kid and one for you.

My twins were exactly the same. We jus let them sleep in the swing. My daughter even got the nickname "swingbaby" because everytime anyone would come visit she'd be swinging away happy as ever. Make sure they are strapped in and also make sure their little neck is all sideways. Some swings have an adjustable seat whereas they can lay back a little farther instead of sitting upright. Good luck, but dont feel bad, it they are content then you are content and sleep when he does! Good luck!

Maybe colic?

Let him stay in the swing if that is what makes him happy and/or sleep! Something about the way it moves or the sound it makes must put him at ease, and there is nothing wrong with that! Not only that, you are a mommy to a 3 week old, that's hard work! Put your son is his swing and take a little breather for yourself, too. Congrats and good luck!

Sounds like he is growing just like he should, at that age they do get more alert, and he may just really like his swing, my first daughter liked her swing and did kinda the same thing, let him sleep in his swing he will be fine, also his little eyes are probably adjusting better so he is curious to see all thoe cool things that he sees. I know it can be tiring, babies are hard work, remember he is only 3 weeks old you will adjust to his little schedule, he is just learning yours and you are still trying to figure out yours. Good luck, try to nap with him that way you get a little bit of rest.

He may like being in the swing because it is smaller than a crib. I would let him sleep in it for he time being as I did with my daugter.

He also may need a bit of gripe water for the gasses.

My 2nd son was like that. We allowed him to sleep in the swing a lot. My mom was concerned he would become addicted but he grew out of this phase.

Many ways to comfort cranky babies:
1. soothing by motion - ride in stroller, or car
2. listening to droning sound - like clothes dryer, fan hum
3. infant massage
4. swaddling - wrap child snugly in blanket
5. warm bath can make baby drowsy

Let him sleep in the swing but just make sure that he will be safe in there

our daughter was this way. It really helps if you swaddle him tight. Then when you pick him up or put him in his crib, his arms dont move causing him to wake up and get upset.

Lay down and have a nap with the kid. That way it will never feel it's alone and panic. Also you will not be tired then.
