i was 17, we got caught messing around - mom and (step)dad told me it was a phase, to stop trying to get attention, can't see each other, etc. and the kicker is that my mom is bisexual. but then again, she probably freaked out because she still has issues with the fact that she was so in love with my dad but he wouldn't tell her the truth (he's gay) so i guess maybe it reminded her of it... not quite sure.

dad was supportive, but he wanted me to really be sure of myself. it was probably a big shock to him (that i was 17 and 'could' come out) because he didn't even admit it to me until i was 22 years old.

but in the end, mom and (step)dad saw that there was no phase and quit being skeptical; (step)dad and i still like to hang out every once in awhile and chat about women :)

I don't remember.. 18 I think.. but, I never hid it from my mother.. (I didn't know my father.. I had only seen him once for two weeks.. and then he died when I was 14) I was never one of those people who go out and have a new love interest every few weeks.. I have a small core group of friends whom she new.. so when my ex came into the picture it was fairly obvious.. She stayed with me alot.. I wasn't sure she had it figured out until I just flat out said it once.. and she said.. oh.. yeah, I figured.. then of course she told the rest of the family.. (nice Italian family on the east coast.. grr..).. and the best response (from my favorite aunt) was : "and the news is?.. I've known that for years".. Aside from my mother not letting people at her work know for some reason.. she was fine..

I was about 20 and my love Gwenneth 21. We had been seeing each other for a few years and had decided to purchase a house and live together. We thought it best to tell our parents first. My father had passed away. My Mother said that she had hoped for grandchildren some day but that Gwen was a wonderful person. "Love her and treat her kindly".
I never learned what Gwen's family said but their reply to our house warming invitation makes me burn to think of it even after 42 years.

My mother already knew. I didn't have to tell her.

My dad has asked my sister if I am but she lies and tells him she doesn't know... I probably won't tell him for a very long time.
