yes--if we choose to make ourselves heard (as we dind last November).
There are a lot of people ouut therir who try to make a pretense of being "worldly-wise" by saying otherwise. In fact they are merely cynical and lazy. They don't care to make the effort to be actiive, involved citizens.
Their cntempt for anyone who isn't apathetic gives them away. They are simply "cop outs." And they are the best supprters the would-be tyrant has:
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that enough good men do nothing."--Edmund Burke
These jerks spend their time urging others to believe its 'smart" to do nothing. What does that say about their character.

Some people know that it is possible for the populace to control the government.
We know that because we understand that the government needs us more than we need them.
Those of us who have the most rudimentary mathematical understanding know that 3 hundred million to 3 hundred thousand is a thousand to one ratio.
Unfortunately, most people don't give a sh1t, so long as they have a full belly and cable TV. Additionally, most people do not even know what their government is doing. They eat dinner, fall asleep to the pretty colors of brainwashing/ sales machine, then get up the next day to work like loyal slaves that they are.
The only reason government and the bankers it protects can get away with the atrocities they commit is because the people do not know anything. That is the purpose behind eugenics and the "dumbing-down" doctrine. That is the purpose of having media monopolies. That is the purpose of Fox's "fair and balanced" news.
All it would take to control the government is for enough people to learn what their government has been doing.
The people have always been strong.
It is the criminals who are weak.
Education is the key to freedom, prosperity and peace.

The people never have had power over the goverment. The people don't rule the country, we elect officials to do that otherwise we would have utter chaos. There are corrupt goverment officials who allow themselves to be bribed and influenced and there are those times when our leaders have to make unpopular aggreements to get or maintain something better elsewhere. This is one reason you have to be smart about who you elect. And you do have representivies who are the voice of the people if people talk to them!

Many of us do. We're especially aware that if we can gather other like-thinking people and all start protesting / mailing / complaining together, we can get noticed and get individual representatives to do something.

This person sure doesn't! The only power I seem to have left is the power to withhold my financial donations from those parties and candidates who do not measure up.

I believe we do. None of the federal government's officials (except the judicial branch) would be there if we hadn't elected them to their posts.

We don't , if the government can't do anything through the vote, then they will do it without, the US citizen doesn't mean anything to them.
