the same people that are critital of the war want us to use rules to fight while the terrorist have no rules. my rules is fight fair until your opponet breaks the rules then its a free for all and I fight with no rules until my opponet is history. you cant win a chess game if your opponet uses every piece like a queen. When we 'break the rules', why are we breaking them with outdated strategies that we stole from the KGB during the Cold War?
If we have best military and intellectual talent in the world can we not come up with strategies that stay with UN defined rules that can still be just as effective?

That depends.. Civilians living in a tent 100 ft away from a terrorist who shoots have no say when the bomb kills them.. They are not involved.. What makes a terrorist?? The U.S. is the by far the strongest, most advanced military in the world.. We can win the war with the rules.. And maintain the moral highground.. Mistakes will be made reguardless, but let's not go overboard...

You call them cowards, yet youre the one who is so afraid of losing a war that youre willing to lose the nations pride and moral high ground over it? That is disgusting.
Yes, it is virtually impossible to fight a war on these terms; but that should have been dealt with before hand, not years into the issue.
Anyone could have forseen this problem coming when the "War on Terror" was declared. We know how terrorists fight, because we trained many of their people. We know what weapons they have, because we sold them so many. We know how well they can dig in, because we taught them how to do it. We knew what was coming. We're fighting the army raised by independent soldiers that were formerly funded by the CIA. We allowed them to grow these armies, knowing that they were swearing loyalty not to us, or even to a country we were allied to, but to a religious sect or a leader. Our gov't chose to get us into this knowing the situation on our side, and knowing that the other side wasnt going to follow our rules of combat. They need to get us out the same
way-preferably with a victory; however, if the only way out with dignity is to turn tail, then that is what I would like to see us do.
It is better to suffer a defeat that you can be proud of than a victory you have to be ashamed of.

You can't win the peace After the war if you don't fight with rules - no matter how beaten down the losers are battered.
If you lose that moral high ground, you are just as bad as the terrorists in the eyes of muslim countries for example. Infact, probably a little worse because You are not muslim.

The real cowards are actually the conservatives. The very nature of conservatives is because they are fear this and fear that. They even expect God will give them "personal" protection and communicate with them "personally". If you don't think this is coward what you will then call this?
For such cowards, there is no need to wast time on them, they are absolutely hopeless.

Murtha would be a coward to you. A decorated Marine Corps veteran who fought in Vietnam while bush was missing his drug tests for the Texas Air National Guard. Well said! If they ever pulled their heads out of the sand and wiped the sand out of their eyes they would see this. We no longer have wars where the enemy plays nice. It's scares me to think that they are that far out of reality and want to lead our country!
