Cheney DOES seem to think he's above the law. Several years ago, when Congress insisted that he provide some documents that everyone in Congress must make available, he pointed out that he's part of the executive branch and thus not answerable to that. Just last month, when faced with some reporting responsibilities for anyone in the executive branch, he said the vice president--since he can break ties in the senate--ISN'T a member of the executive branch and thus doesn't have to follow the rules of that house, either.

Isn't that the exact definition of "above the law?"

First of all paul_foster you're dead wrong. NO ONE has the privilege of being ABOVE the law. Yes Dick is very pig headed. He and Bush both need impeached and imprisoned.

Executive Privilege is the right to withhold certain information from the general public, not the right to be above the law. Learn what your talking about Paul_foster and then answer questions!!!

I can't believe people know so little about our government, that they actually think executive privilege dismisses Cheney and/or his advisers from complying with congressional subpoenas, under the current situation.
It is not even mentioned in the US constitution, and supreme court case United states vs Nixon, the decision was made that the executive branch does have this option, but only to the extent of confirming that oversight would actually hinder national security concerns. neither time that bush or Cheney has declared executive privilege, has this been the case.

People who cheer these corrupted practices, are in fact, cheering actions that undermine the US constitution, and the checks and balances it provides, that safeguard all of our rights.

He has gone far beyond his "executive privilege" an above moron had mentioned. This guy, I believe, has intimidated the dolt in the white house until of late. He does believe he is above the law because he has gotten away with so much. Unfortunately we will never know until he is dead and gone. That is if you can kill a vampire.
