I have been swamped with work as some of you already know and today on my way home from work, a close friend of mine called and informed me that she is indeed dying from "COPD" "Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease" just as her husband did last year.
I am unable to be there for her nor will I be able to attend her funural so she has now asked me to write her something special as well as write her eulogy and she would like to see these before she's gone.
Doc says she has maybe 4 to 6 weeks left so if you could, any suggestions would be great as I would like to have all this mailed by the end of this coming week (Aug 3rd)

Thanx in advance to all of you for responding *^_^* (sigh)

All the Very Best, Shad @)~>~

This is a poem I wrote about death a while back (please, I'm not looking fo comments on my poetry right now, just suggestions...

"Someday.....

The final time we rest our heads,
Can happen anywhere, aside from a bed
Whether tis painful, pain will subside,
Or in a split second, no one ever dies
The last breath on earth, is the first one above,
Tis the most refreshing air, of Gods greatest love,
The chariots we ride, to get around,
Easy to tell apart, while we’re on the ground,
Chariots rest but, souls they soar,
It’s meant to be, that’s what we’re here for,
That magnificent dream, like no ones ever seen,
Except the ones who’ve crossed over,
Now gleaming and clean, free from the earth,
Until its new birth,
Looking down and leading the way
His time, he’s coming,
The great family reunion
We will be together someday."

(should I use it? should I write another? I'm truly a mess right now...

sry, thanx so much guys and girls......ttya soon, ATB, Shad @)~>

I always have heard a few funny/cute stories that are personal from the author of the eulogy so that would be a good start. You will want to high light the things that make that person special and unique and then perhaps talk about the family that is still around. Good luck on this, it is a tough thing to do and made tougher still as she will be around to critique it for you...

Wow! Don't people go to church or funerals anymore? You could write your own but it would be biased. A eulogy is a speech that someone gives at your funeral telling about how you impacted different lives and all the great things you did in your life. Advice from the Preacher- Live your life so I don't have to lie at your funeral.

I've had many people die in my immediate and extended family. The best eulogies always recall stories of times you enjoyed with that person. At my Dad's eulogy his brother recounted a story of them getting lost on a hiking trip and their journey back to camp. I don't know, but consider making a program too for the funeral? The best literary approach to death I've seen was the end of the Chronicles of Narnia.

Maybe in state of a direct eulogy you could try making her a poem that she will understand is directed to her like the poem you wrote for your friend who pass away not awhile ago. It will be different but at least she know it is personalized especially from you. Sorry to hear you have some sad news.

I've only had it to do once. Talk briefly about her life. Tell a story about an experience you shared and how it gave you an insight into her. Talk about the many people who will miss her and what all of you will miss most..

Then, the most important part of any speech--shut up and sit down. Short and heartfelt is the best way to go.

I would look for inspiration in the books attributed to Rumi, Hafiz, Idreas Shaw and Milarepa. Out of some very simple ideas you will find there, your inspiration will rise up in you and the words will fit as poetry reflecting your feelings.

I typed this into google, how to write a eulogy, and believe it or not up came quite a few, some on how to write, and some on what to write, hope this helps, it's hard to tell someone how to write one for someone that you don't know, so I couldn't do it. Good luck with this !
