I can tell you how to fix your sound issue (witch i will) but if you are "and I'm too lazy to do that" might be to hard for you to fix .

1 go to start
2. go to control panel
3. go to system
4 go to hardware
5 go to device manager
6 go to sound video and game controllers
7 delete your sound card driver (witch is prob corrupt)
8 close all windows
9 reboot computer
10 thank god

Are you sure that the audio controller was installed correctly. Right click on My Computer, than go to Properties -> Hardware Tab -> Device Manager , and check if there are any yellow question marks, and also if there are not any problems under ' Sound, Video and game controllers' . If let's say u see a yellow ? by Audio controller, than you can try to install the driver manually.

1. Unpack the original audio driver from Emachines
2. Right click on the Audio controller (with the yellow ?) and hit update drivers ( or install)
3. Don't try to use Windows Update to find th correct drivers (beacuse it almost never works)
4. On the second screen - check - Install from specific location, then browse for the folder with unpacked drivers from Emachines.

If everything will go good, your audio controller should be working now.

If not:
check if there are not any red crosses under Device Manager (it menas that some device is disabled ) if there are - right click and hit enable.
- i believe that you haven't muted anything (Go to control panel - Sound Devices and check over there)

I'm writing this from memory so some names can be slightly different.

Perhaps you could make sure that you have the speakers plugged into the correct slot on the back. Also, check the audio setting and make sure nothing is set to mute.

first of all, are you sure your volume isnt muted?
open you volume controls and take a peek..short of that, look on the front of your tower, it will have the serial number etc right there, its pretty tiny type face, but write that down, model number you already have, then go to live chat with a tech at emachines.com and get help, how long could it take to write down the serial number!
