One cannot be sure. Almost all of the terrorists on 9/11 were from Saudi Arabia. Not only that, but the Bush family are extremely close friends with the royal family in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; have been for years.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see if we get these weapons back in the shape of a mushroom cloud.

Yes and no. Saudi Arabia is a dictatorship run by the House of Saud Royal Family. This is a huge extended family intent on keeping their power. The socialist-minded al-Qaeda want to bring down the House of Saud and install a Taliban-run type of society . Many House of Saud members even financially support al-Qaeda as a form of bribery to leave the House of Saud alone (just as businesses here during prohibition paid bribes to the Mob to leave them alone) and pick on someone else, preferably the USA instead of themselves.

The House of Saud is on the side of anyone who will help perpetuate their staying in power. Oil money, from the USA, helps them. So does our military presence there offer them some protection from overthrow, in their view. They feel they are doing business with the devil (us) for the purpose of forestalling the day they are overthrown and murdered by the fundamentalist rebels. But no, they are not on our side, except to survive. It is symbiosis: we need their oil to survive financially, and they need our money and protection to survive, literally.
