Ok, I just got some Serpae, Bleeding Fin, and Neon Tetras, a total of 5, with these school together or do I need to get more of each?

I also got a Peppered Corydora, and a Sunburst Molly and a Red Molly

Should I quarantine these? I got them from PetsMart/Wal-Mart.

How should I go about adjusting all the fish to the new 78 degrees water. (I haven't gotten the heater yet)

I already have a Betta in the 10 gallon, is this too much fish?? Thanks alot...Any tips welcome!!!

You will need to get more of them as they will not school together. Schooling is based mostly on color, but also on shape and those are quite different in appearance.

Personally, I quarantine every fish I ever get, no matter what the source.

That is an ok load for a 10 gallon, but it prevents you from getting enough more for all of your new fish to have schools. If possible, return the serpea and get a few more neons and bloodfins, they will all do better that way.

The Tetras will not school together, get 5 of each fish. Unfortunately, the Betta may nip the Serpaes' fins, so take the Serpaes back. Keep the Bleeding Fins and Neons and get as many as necessary to make the tank have 5 Neons and 5 Bleeding Fins.

I never suggest getting fish from Walmart, so definitely quarantine them. I would suggest getting rid of the Mollies because the Betta may like their fins, also, they get about 4+ inches and your tank is already full. To keep up with these fish, you will need to do weekly gravel vacuumings with a siphon (these gravel vacuumings eliminate the need for separate water changes). Good luck!

The fish totals should be:

1 Betta
3 Cories
5 Neons
5 Bleeding Fins

to much, serpae tetras a somewhat aggressive so i dont expect the betta to have its fins left after being in with the serpae.

they will not school even though they are all tetras.

with 2 mollies, your tank is overstocked, mollies arent small fishes and can reach 5-6 inches.

you have way to many fishes in the 10 gallon.

consider getting a 20 gallon for your mollies and others.

no thats not too many fish, but because they are different kinds of fish they will not school together. They should be fine, don't get anymore fish though. they should have been heated already but when you put the heater in the water it will slowly heat the water so the fish will get used to it as it gets warmer slowly, but if your going to buy a cheaper heater you have to adjust the heater yourself so keep an eye on it every so often at least once a day. really hope this helps

They will not school with each other even though they are tetras.

It's always best to quarantine all new fish before you place them in the main tank.

Make sure to get the heater soon, a 50 watt for a 10 gallon tank.

Is it a female of male betta? If it's a male betta, then he's better off living by himself. If it's a female betta, then you can put the fish in.

this might be a few too many, but might be ok, leave the fish in the bag they came in & put the bag in the tank for an hour or two to let the temp even out, then dump them into the tank (you did have the tank set up for 24 hrs already right? I never do, but it is what they say you are supposed to do)
