Last year in Vegas, I was disappointed because the money wasn't dropping down. that's half the fun of slots. I'll be staying downtown so any help you can give me, I'll appriciate.

You're in luck, most of the casinos downtown still have at least some old "coin droppers"

We go to LV 2-3 times a year for 2 weeks or more at a time and have for over 20 years. We were just in LV for a month long stay(6/4 - 7/5) and spent 15 nights downtown. Someone ask this Q just before we left for LV so I did some scouting, just to see. I was surprised at the number of coin droppers I was able to find.

If you want to say you played an actual "penny" slot machine(I'm not talking one of these new "penny" slot machines that are $3 a spin) I'm talking an actual drop a penny in, have a penny drop out, slot machine, go to the Gold Spike. They have the infamous "copper mine", this is an area of the casino with about 30 very old penny slot machines. Be forewarned the Gold Spike is a real dump, and the area it's in is best visited during the day, but it's only a couple of blocks from Fremont Street. Don't go flashing large bills(such as a $5) in the Spike unless you want the patrons to stare lol

We stayed at Silverton for 12 nights too, I was surprised to find that a new casino such as this one would still have coin droppers, but there were several banks of video poker machines that still play & pay in coins. Silverton caters to the locals, I'm guessing that some of the older locals like to play these machines so they keep them around.

I was there last September and was also dissappointed in the tokens. Most all casinos have switched over. So, I started a casino token collection of $1.00 tokens and have begun trading as well. I'll be back out there this coming September, but don't anticipate any changes.

Every casino is coinless!!! You can't put your change in the machine, you need dollar bills. Each casino has a Bill breaker so if all you have is a Ben Franklin, the bill breaker will break it down to 20s, then you can break that down to 5s, then you can break that down to 1s.

GLTY in Vegas and Godbless you.

Most of them now you get the receipt from the machine. I like it personally, it is so much cleaner than handling all the dirty coins.
