"Parents who are idiots regarding the health, safety, and well-being of their children need to be punished to the highest extent of the law."

That is not even what this is about you are stupid to the max, why did they even someone like you adopt kids? This is about 2 people one rich and ignorant like I think you might be and one poor that did the same thing and got 20 years while the other went free, what is right about that?

"If you're going to go thru the trouble of pregs & labor, just to kill or injure the child out of your own stupidity or ignorance, DON'T!"

If you are going to adopt someones kid just because they are single and poor to kill or injure or harm it out of your stupidity and greed and selfish needs, DON'T!

"There are plenty of people who'd give anything to have a child."

Stop ripping the poor peoples children off just because you can get and may have some money!

The sad part is, no it isn't fair and public awareness and demanding change can make it 'better' for a while. Implementing new laws, checks and balances, and public out cry all can help out, but the deal is that eventually people forget and it all goes slack again. People have been trying to make the world what it should be since they were aware something was wrong, and I think it is right to try to get out there, and even just being on this site helps, but in the end while trying to save babies from negligent parents there is probably another ignored plight (foster care systems, droughts, and human trafficking). So try to make the world better and enlighten people, but it isn't ever going to be what it should. I guess what I'm saying is try is all people like us can do, and sometimes it's going to hurt realizing other people aren't always the same way.

There are plenty of people who'd give anything to have a child. If you have no intention of raising your child the 'right' way, give it to someone who will. It's the best thing you could ever do.

Time and place is important. Extenuating circumstances, new laws coming to effect, jurisdiction, history of the accused ..... Which one was treated unjustly, which one did wrong and which one did a crime.

Ah, New York and California, could they be any more different.
