You can certainly go to a community college, then transfer after doing well for a couple of years. The other option is that there are some schools which will accept almost anyone who graduates from high school. Most of them aren't great schools, but if you want ot get away from home, that may be the way to go. I don't know enough about you to get a list for you, but you can use the "college matchmaker" feature on "www.collegeboard.com to figure out what might work for you.

I have several degrees and have found college to be much easier than high school and grad school easier than college. While it is true that the classes grow increasingly more difficult the further you go in you education you also have to consider that the further you go the more specific you topic of study will be. It is much easier to focus on 5 specialized classes on the same content in college than on 12 or so random classes in high school. Similarly in college the majority of the work is paper based as opposed to the testing format of high school. If you know what your teacher wants you pretty much already know your grade before you hand in your work. However like anything else, your result will be reflective of the amount of effort you put into your work. The key is developing good study habits, and finding out what works for you; how you learn best.

Even though you want to get away from home, you might have more luck applying to local Community college or your state school than anything.
Or wait a few years. Once you pass 25 colleges don't care as much about ACT/SAT or high school GPA.

The best thing to do is start off going to a community college so you could build up your gpa and they don't look at things like the SAT/ACT then after a year or two you could tranfer somewhere else.

My community college accepted everyone who applied last year. You can study computers there and then transfer on to a regular college. The students aren't so bright at my local community college, so you can easily pull straight A's and get into the college of your choice.
