I've heard people say they were allergic to pork, but I assumed it was probably additives in the pork that actually caused an allergic reaction. Never heard of anyone that died from eating pork......

There used to be a rampant disease called Trichinosis that was caused by slop feeding pigs. You can no longer slop feed pigs that are meant for the marketplace and not for your own consumption.
I can remember in days of yore when on garbage days when men in wagons pulled by horses or mules would go through your garbage and collect things that their hogs would eat. They can't do that any more. Not most pork production is done on large pig farms, like chickens are raised, and not only are they given the best qualities of grains, etc., they also get antibiotics to keep the disease out of the market place.
There is actually less fat in a pork chop than there is in an equal amount of beef. Most of the pork fat is visible when you butcher it and it is cut off. There are no problems other than some religious problem that would necessarily stop you from consuming pork . Conservative religious people, in small numbers, are attempting to return to the Jewish dietary codes, Kosher, where pork is forbidden.
It used to be that in order to eat pork you had to cook it to the point where it was so dried out that you chewed your teeth away. Presently, if you get your meat from a grocery store, you can cook a 3/4 inch piece of pork loin at 325 degrees for about 20 minutes and it will be safe, good, and juicy.

Pork in itself, if cooked properly and provided the source has cared for the little porkers properly, is quite fine and high in protein. However, pigs are susceptible to carrying a nasty parasite that can pass on to humans what is know as trichinosis, especially if the meat is not cooked thoroughly. It can affect the liver and the colon tract. It rarely comes up anymore, what with all the hype about proper nutrition to livestock and the vaccinations all livestock are subjected to these days. And some people are more prone to picking up the parasite than others. It can be contracted through other sources other than pigs. They just got a bad rep for it, that's all.

Any food can kill you! People have died from drinking too much water. Poor handling by the chef can result in cross contmination from other food sources. Chicken is much more dangerous because of that. But no one should be worried if they pay attention to basic sanitation skills.
Just make sure it is cooked through. Juices should run clear. Today's pork is much leaner than in days past so it doesn't have as much flavor.

Never heard of dying from eating any type meat, even when it has gone bad. May get sick, buts that's it. Pork used to need to be cooked well done due to trichinosis (a worm) but that is very rare now. I don't think it was meat that killed the person.

first of all, what does this have to do with maintenace and repair. second your buddy probably died from something else and not the result of soley eating pork. third there is nothing wrong with eating pork, its provides protein which the body needs for growth and repair, along with other nutrients

Food that is not handled and cooked properly can make you sick and lead to death, but pork did not do it or it would not be sold as a consumable product if you were going to die if you ate it.

Pork is no different that any other meat. Kill it and grill it. Just make sure it's done enough to be safe.
