Ok, I put my turtles outside in the water so that they can get sunlight. Can birds really take your turtle to eat it? Mine is about 1 or 2 inches long. Please help!!

Birds will carry a turtle off if they think they can eat it. Definately keep an eye on them. If you want your turtle to get some natural light then build an enclosure outside with maybe PVC piping and mesh netting. So nothing can get to him and he can still be outside and bask. At that size they should never be left alone especially outside. A bird wont come near if they see people. Just watch him.

If they are that small, you shouldn't put them outside on their own. The birds will go after them if they think they are food. I have 4 and wen I put them out, the birds were around trying to get them, but luckily they were big enough and actually bit the bird to get them to go away. But, 1-2 inches is way to small and will be bird food. You need to stay outside with them to fend off the birds or bring them back inside

Yes. It is a small meal to the birds. I would watch your turtles carefully if you are going to let them outside. If you want to house them inside, you buy artificial lighting for the turtles.

That is always my #1 fear when I leave my baby painted outside to get sun. I actually caught a bird about to dive down and get him. I finally got smart and put a screen over the container. It only filters out 5% of UVB rays, not enough to prevent them from getting the rays they need, so put a screen over the container and watch them closely.

yes they can like the first guy said but if they are that small and u cannot keep an eye on them 100% of the time i would invest in a netting over the water to protect the young ones from knon predators in our area.
