I usually only use cold water to wash clothes. Suddenly, it's barely a trickle, yet the warm and hot settings operate like usual. All other cold faucets in the house are working normally. The hot and cold water valves to the washer are wide open...what gives? Thanks!

If the screen is not the problem, you may have a bad control valve on the washer. This would mean it is not opening the valve all the way when using cold water. To get by, you could switch the cold water hose to the hot side and set the machine for hot water.

Turn off the cold water and disconnect the hose from the faucet. Turn on the faucet to see if you are getting a good flow. Next, check the hose to see if it has a cone-shaped screen in it . If it does, see if it is partially plugged. Also check to see if the screen is intact. Next check the back of the machine where the hose attaches. There is a screen there on the fill valve. See that it is clear. If the above checks are good, then you will probably have to replace the fill valve in the washer.

You may have to take the hose off the back and clean out the screen in the hose. It could be full of Lime from hard water. First check to see if the valve is open all the way.

Normally there is a filter in the fitting that connects the cold water hose to the washer. Take a pair of Channel Locks and loosen the hose and see if the filter screen is clogged.

Your washing machine has screen filters inside the water inlets. The screen on the cold inlet is probably clogged.

Some fill valves have screens in them that can clog, also the hoses might have screens.

UN screw the cold water pipe from the water supply and clean out the little screen in it .they will get clog ed up from particle,s of trash in the water supply. hope this help,s bob

I would check the filters in the hose first, if that don't do it it might be your pump, mine just went out it was working good and just quit. Good luck
