inequitable income distribution is a major source of dissent in the U.S.. How could this inequality be resolved using the ideologies associated with :

Communism Leninism and Marxism advocate that productive resources should be owned by the state, and since it is the ownership of the means of production that causes most of the inequality, the problem in inequality does not arise in principle.
Socialism as practiced today has little state ownership except for natural resources, but would impose taxes and redistribution that would tend to equalize incomes.
Pure capitalism would not have any government programs to equalize incomes but would leave it to market forces that would produce the maximum national income and the poor would get some of it.

While your absolutely right in pointing out that envy is a major course of discontent in the US (and the world at large), it is wrong to suggest that any economic system is capable of eliminating this ever-present human trait.

So long as people are different along one dimension (wealth) or another (looks, sociability), there will exist envy between people. We shouldn't forget that the negative feelings people have towards income inequality is nothing more than an emotional response. If people's incomes are the result of free exchanges (contracts) and not the result of force and coercion (taxes and redistribution), then one shouldn't be concerned about the income distribution one way or another.

Economics attempts to answer concerning human behavior and deceisons made involving the allocation of scarce resources. no system man creates will give equality as in Animal Farm "some animals are more equal than others." human nature is such that whatever the ruling class is they will have the most access to resources.

People are flawed and none of these systems can solve that problem. These are really ally political as well as economic systems and the economic decisions will always be colored by the political creating friction and inequity.

Marxism, Leninism and communism are synonomous, although there are other "schools" of communism: Maoism, Titoism to name two. Socialism is closely related, though could be a mix of state and private economic interests.

Capitalism stands alone in this list. It seems lopsided to me.

capitalism - provide opportunities to earn more money to poor people. That mostly means education and job training.

communism and the rest of them mean taking money away from hard-working & high-skilled and giving it to those who are less dedicated and talented, so that all earn the same. And hoping that hard-working people will show social responsibility and keep working.
