I have recently discovered a lump near my anus about the size of a peanut m&m. I does not hurt or anything and when pressed, the lump gets smaller. Somedays it seems like it almost disappeared but becomes the same size a couple days later. What could it be? Should I be worried?

I don’t think that the lumps and the appearance of your stool are connected. Did this doctor say what the bumps could be? Did this doc refer you to any other doctor to have these lumps checked? It sounds a bit irresponsible just to dismiss you like that without sending you further or without giving you any input.

If the lump is coming out of the anus, it could be a polyp and would need further evaluation. The small bump could also be some kind of a sexually transmitted disease like herpes or a wart. It could be an ordinary cysts or inflamed pimple depending on the looks. Inflamed pimples usually hurt especially when you sit on them or rub against them.

Black stool could be indicating blood somewhere in the gastrointestinal tract and bleeding after bowel movements is not good either. You should see a gastroenterologist and have your symptoms checked. Bleeding from the anus always requires evaluation.
