I've raised four children and I'm trying to think of something embarassing that we had to discuss with them. The kids were always encouraged to ask questions and we were open about things. I cant honestly think of anything we felt embarassed about. Maybe it's my memory-but now I'm talking to my great-grandchildren and havent come up against anything embarassing.

It depends really on how open you are with your child. I have a 12 yr old and I have talked to her about sex, her period, and drugs, the whole 9 yards. I didn't have an issue with it but of course she was embarrassed about some of it. I feel that it has to be done and I am not going to be embarrassed about it. It's a parental responsibility. My parents wern't embarrassed with me or my brothers.

I'm probably going to have to say the sex talk, sadly no one had it with me so who knows how I'm going to approach it. I know they show videos of one type or another in school.

Sex, drugs, and anything you may have done when you were a cool twenty something but you wouldn't do in front of them.

Explaining to them the stupid and reckless things you did as a kid and what the consequences were.

um, I think it's all pretty natural and you shouldn't be ashamed it's all part of growing up (my mom would say)
but I think telling them about sex would be a little weird for me anyway
