Come on America, jump into the warm and inviting pool known as universal health care! Join the rest of the civilized Western world! You'll like it!
ASHLEY ROBINSON: Have you ever been outside the U.S.? Do you have any clue what things are like in Canada or France? Clicking your heels three times and saying "Socialism" isn't going to change reality. In Canada, people get taken care of. If they need urgent care, they get it. I know. I'm talking from personal experience, not from the wisdom of Rush, Ann, or Bill-O.
WOLF. Have you ever lived in Canada? No, I didn't think so. I prefer our health care system to the U.S. system any time. When I needed urgent surgery, I got it, and I didn't need to take out a mortgage or wait until some insurance company approved it.
STUNG4EVER: Canada spends less per capita and less of its GDP on health care and, according to the U.N., has a better system than the U.S. Gosh, could it be because a single-payer Government-funded health care system that takes care of all its citizens is more efficient?
SOLARAN X: Yes, occasionally wealthier Canadians go elsewhere for treatment, so what. What if you're not wealthy? As well, sometimes the Canadian government pays for health care services out of country that aren't available in Canada. Does your insurance company do that?
BIGGG: Canada takes care of ALL of its citizens and we don't spend all of our budget on health care! Maybe you need to stop getting your "information" from FOX "News"!
JONATHAN: Congratulations for having experience with "flooded areas"! How is that relevant to a discussion of health care other than describing your pants from time to time? In Canada we pay for our health care using something called "taxes."

It needs to happen eventually, but at the moment is entirely impossible IMHO.
There is simply not enough money to keep the greedy HMOs, Pharmecutical companies, and doctors happy.
If we tried to implement universal healthcare right now, especially with so much of the population undocumented, america would become bankrupt. (On a much larger scale than we already are)

I think it is a great idea. Every man and woman has a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In the current system where so many are uninsured or under insured, these rights cannot be fully pursued by those suffering.

To enjoy Health Care in the US and every place else people should pay a portion of the cost. If they refuse to at least pay for part of the cost or at least show that they want and deserve Health Care.
ref. Thousands perhaps millions of home owners refuse to pay for flood insurance - knowing very well that they built in a flooding low lying lot - they want us who pay for insurance and the federal government to pay for their lossess.. (As we do)
Builders should not be allowed to build in prospective low lying flooding areas. The building permits department should not allow them to build.
And people should buy insurance if they want it.

Ask Canadians why they come here for MRIs and Cat Scans.
Why would (a case I know) someone fly here from Italy to Emory Univ. for quadruple bypass instead of having it done in Italy? I guess Michael Moore would perfer to have his anywhere but in the US. Yeah, right!

It would be a horrible idea that would cost more than our entire federal budget right now.
Just because the government is giving it out does not mean that it is free. You are still going to be paying for every cent of it.

If Canadian health care was so good (it is socialized and a model that Hillary wants to follow)...why is it that I see a lot of Canadians in my hospital for burn and cardiac treatment (which my hospital is nationally recognized for)?
