I am thinking of moving to London - and only want to live in Zone 1. I have a fixed income from my investments of 50,000 GBP a year and this is after taxes. I need to know if I can have a good enough lifestyle in London on this much money? And what all can I afford there?

I would need a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment, and enough money to go out 4-5 times a week.

I dont need to buy a place right now - I own plenty of investment properties so don't mind living on rent myself but I would need at least a 1 bedroom in or around Mayfair.

Before taxes £50,000 would give you a good life, the same amount after taxes would give you an excellent life style.

£50,000 in central london is enough to have a good lifestyle. You can rent a good appartment in zone 1 for around £2500 per month depending on exactly where you want to stay so that would leave you with over £400 a week to spend. You can dine out in resonsable restaurants for around £20 a head and unlimited travel on public transport for less that £7 a day. You will have no problems with that kind of money.

All depends on your lifestyle I guess :) Where would you want to live in Zone 1? Are you wanting to rent or buy or flatshare? Will you be bringing savigs with you?

I used to live in Zone 1, was renting with my partner (1 bed place) and used to make less that £50,000, and were fine, we went out for dinner regularly (less that what you are planning to do though), had a couple of holidays abroad (to Europe) per year.

How much is 50,000 GBP? I know what $50,000 is. Do they have the same value or less?
I'm sure it matters what part of London also. The least expensive place would probably be a lot to some people.

NO, there is no way that will be enough. You will need at least 4 times that amount to live in zone 1. Of course, I have no idea what I'm talking about either. Just so you know and all.
