I don't know about Athens but big cities usually have one zip code like 10 000 and then different parts of the city get similar codes, like the downtown is 11 500 and the some residential area is 11 060. But if you need to send something that is in the residential area and that you put 10 000 on ur letter, there should not be any problems.
I looked up on the Internet, and found that Athens' zip is : 10563
(i just searched for downtown hotels and there were addresses).

There are several zip codes for Athens. You have to lookup the code by street name at the Greek Post Office site. The first person gave you the link. If it doesn't work, make sure that you remove the periods at the end of that link. It should read:

There are many zip codes, depending on the exact address in Athens you are sending the item. If you write the address to me I can help you, because Athens has many suburbs, and road names often are the same, so you need the correct code so that it goes to the correct area. You need to know the suburb you are sending the item too, unless it is in the centre of Athens. Email me the address if you want more privacy and I can help you.
Don't just write a random zip code of an area, like 10563 proposed above, it will only confuse things worse.
