I always liked Snape, I knew he loved Lily, I just didn't realise how much! He hated Harry and James, with a passion, a) bcoz Lily married James. and b) hated Harry bcoz he looked like James, but he agreed to anonomously look out for Harry, because of his great love for Lily, and the fact that he felt guilty everytime he looked into Harry's eyes, 'Lily's eyes', as we heard so often.
His patronus was Lily's Doe. James' patronus was a Stag. I am wondering whether her Doe had always been a Doe, or only since she fell in love with James. And if Severus' patronus had always been a Doe too or if it changed to match Lily's when she married James.
Can you enlighten us JK?

I love Snape. I have always thought that he was very talented. It was hinted at several times that Snape and Lily were on friendly terms. (she stuck up for him when James was torturing him)
I was disappointed with the Dumbledore story. It made me loose some respect for him.

I adore everything about Snape. I didnt really doubt his loyalty to Dumbledore and even suspected that it was a deep-rooted love that drove him, owing to Dumbledore's theory of love conquering all.
[I had a wild theory that Voldemort was wanting something from Eileen Prince and was sure of Severus's loyalty because he believed severus had killed her but that she was really hiding at hogwarts...Irma Pince(librarian)/I'm a Prince]
The thing is, i liked his character so much that I HATED his love story. It was just way too tragic. I would rather have seen the heroic trio blown to smitherines than what happened to Snape. I'd really have liked to have seen him finally be able to live , properly and happily; meet a little woman, or looking above, a man (*cough*alive!Lupin*cough*) and settle down to sell his potions...
alas, maybe I'm just a big jessie.

If Snape have been to have a love tale, he could be extra like Mr Darcy. And it may honestly be a love failure. His actual love getting married to somebody else, him last unmarried, his lasting love for that individual, etc. He could be a passionate lover. the type of narrative could be acceptable provided that his love did no longer come across a manner. to locate that a chilly, crafty, smart, sarcastic guy has a passionate indoors...that he as quickly as enjoyed somebody... that could desire to be acceptable. circulate suitable forward. mail me for some suggestions. in case you opt to jot down a fanfic, this is. I continually knew at coronary heart that he became a sturdy guy. I felt so very unhappy for him, after DHs. He had to verify Harry's (Lily's) eyes before he died...

I feel as if I owe Snape an apology, I was soooooo sure that he was pure evil through and through. It was really clever the way that JKR got us all to empathise with Snape he was just a poor smitten kitten, furious at Harry for being the spawn of his enemy and his true love.

I thought Snape was the most interesting character in the Harry Potter series and was very disappointed when in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince he seemed to be the baddie. I thought that was much too obvious. I wish JK hadn't killed him off.

I think that it was quite touching. And plus, we got to know the real Snape. I was all mad at him when I finished reading the book last year. I actually downloaded a bunch of his pictures on Google and scribbled on them in Paint.
On the other hand it's really touching because it was probably very painful for him watch how they distanced away, then join Voldemort, who ended up killing her after he begged him not to. After that he gained a kind of... "revenge" so that Voldemort would die. And on top of it it probably hurt him a lot to see her in Harry's eyes, as he had her's, I almost cried...

I thought it was really cool. It answered a lot of questions, and revealed certain things. Like, in the 5th book, Petunia says she remembers Lily talking about dementors with "that awful boy". All this time I thought it was James! I NEVER guessed she knew Severus.

Yes, Sporty - I did like it. Somehow I thought that Snape wasn't as bad as he was being painted - although I wanted to do him in at times for the way he treated Harry! He really came through in the end, didn't he!
