How accurate are 10 week ultrasounds in determining an estimated due date if the LMP is unknown?

The ultrasound is very accurate. It's the lmp method that I think is really just a guess. Based on my lmp, I should be 24 weeks, but because I was coming off birth control when I got pregnant, my cycle was off, and I didn't ovulate "on schedule" . The ultrasound proved it. I'm only 23 weeks.

I'm going to say ultrasounds are not always as accurate as people say. I've had three experiences to back this up. With all three of my pregnancies, the ultrasounds dated my pregnancies wrong - two of them were off by 2 weeks and one was off by 3 weeks.

Since you don't know your LMP I guess the ultrasound will be somewhat helpful, but I wouldn't rely on it 100%.

it's pretty accurate. although every baby does grow at different rates (i got so sick of hearing that phrase while i was pregnant), they take certain measurements of certain body parts, measure fluid amounts and they derive a conclusion from that. although i'm sure it's not 100% accurate, it still give you a real close ball park. even though they might give you a due date, many factors come into play on when your baby will arrive. my cervix is high, so none of my babies wanted to drop, even at 42weeks (for both).
